Glasbury to Hay-on-Wye

1/2 Day Trip – Glasbury to Hay-on-Wye
Discover the beauty of the River Wye on our popular half-day canoeing trip. Experience thrilling twists, gentle rapids, and enchanting wildlife as you paddle along. Our journey starts in picturesque village of Glasbury and ends in the renowned town of books, Hay-on-Wye. Prepare for a refreshing adventure that will leave you with lasting memories.

Glasbury to Whitney-on-Wye

1 Day Trip – Glasbury to Whitney-on-Wye
Embark on a captivating full-day canoeing adventure along the majestic River Wye. Starting in scenic Glasbury, you’ll navigate through the famous town of books, Hay-on-Wye. Enjoy a delightful lunch break before continuing your journey into the English countryside, concluding at Whitney-on-Wye. Immerse yourself in nature, bask in the sun, and let us take care of the rest.

Glasbury to Preston-on-Wye

2 Day Trip – Glasbury to Preston-on-Wye
Commence on an unforgettable journey along the picturesque River Wye. Day 2 begins in Whitney, immersing you deeper into enchanting Herefordshire countryside, surrounded by lush orchards. Paddle onward to the charming Bredwardine, a perfect summer spot with a tranquil swimming spot, and conclude your voyage in idyllic Preston-on-Wye at Byecross Farm Campsite.

Glasbury to Hereford

3 Day Trip – Glasbury to Hereford
On the third day of your adventure, prepare to conquer the 11-mile stretch leading you into the heart of historic Hereford city. It’s important to note that this particular section of the river offers no exit points until you reach the vibrant city itself. The pace of the river slows down, providing you with ample time to savour the picturesque surroundings. At the Rowing Club, our dedicated team will ensure a comfortable return to your starting point in Glasbury.

Glasbury to Hoarwithy

4 Day Trip – Glasbury to Hoarwithy
A 4th day would take you 16 miles downstream from Hereford to Hoarwithy. Pass by the small village of Holme Lacey, well know for its abundance of cider-apple and perry-pear trees. Your trip will conclude at at Tresseck Campsite where we will pickup and return you to your start point in Glasbury.

Glasbury to Ross-on-Wye

5 Day Trip – Glasbury to Ross-on-Wye
An 11 mile paddle starting at Hoarwithy, a village known for the beautiful St Catherine Church and finishing at to Ross-on-Wye, where we will pickup and return you to your start point in Glasbury.

Accommodation

Wye Valley Bunkhouse

Our 5 star luxury Bunkhouse can sleep up to 18 guests. Lovingly converted from a grade 2 listed Welsh Chapel. The Bunkhouse is located in Glasbury, only 3 miles from the world famous town of books, Hay-on-Wye.

Designed as a luxury base, from which you can have exceptional adventures. We are in the midst of the Upper Wye Valley with the famous River Wye running parallel to our walls. Leave your front door and paddle down the famous River Wye with the neighbours at Wye Valley Canoes. Explore the uninterrupted Brecon Beacons National Park or Black Mountains, a short drive takes you to the waterfalls of the Elan Valley, walk the Offa’s Dyke Path or take a short drive into the famous Town of Books.

Located on the top floor are the 12 luxury bunks, a separate large double bedroom which has been partitioned off for privacy, a large lounge and kitchen area, and 3 large modern bathrooms each with their own toilet and shower facility.

The small kitchen area, complete with oven/grill, double induction hob, sink and fridge freezer. We would advise bringing pre-cooked meals or contacting local caterers/takeaways as the kitchen is on the smaller side so not suitable for cooking large banquets.

Downstairs is the large open games room with pool table, table tennis table and cornhole space. The furniture can be easily cleared to create a large area perfect for group activities. At the back of the room, is the entrance to a bedroom with 4 single beds.

You have a choice between the stairs or spiral slide between the top and ground floor.

The bunkhouse is bright, airy and modern. The design is very open plan. This is worth bearing in mind before booking, the bunkhouse is only suitable for groups where everyone is comfortable with sharing.

We have ensured the Bunkhouse is accessible as possible to all guests. We have ramp access to all levels and a lift to the top floor. One of the bathrooms is also designed to be accessible.

Linen is provided on all the beds, however guests must bring their own towels.

We provide parking on-site for up to four vehicles. There is street parking close by which is free.
